Scheduled Street Closures: 2016 Emancipation Day Parade

The Metropolitan Police Department and the Department of Transportation would like to inform the public of the street closures in conjunction with the 2016 Emancipation Day Parade scheduled for Saturday, April 16, 2016. 

Street Closures

Emancipation Day Concert – The following streets will be closed from approximately 7:30 am to 12:00 am:

  • E Street, NW, from 14th Street to 13th Street, NW
  • Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, from 14th Street to 12th Street, NW
  • 13th Street, NW, from E Street to Pennsylvania Avenue, NW

Parade Set-Up – The following streets will be closed from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm:

  • Indiana Avenue, NW,  from 7th Street to 3rd Street, NW
  • 6th Street, NW,  from D Street to C Street, NW

Parade – The following streets will be closed from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm (Parade hours 1 pm to 3 pm)

  • Pennsylvania Avenue, NW,  from 14th Street to 4th Street, NW
  • All streets crossing Pennsylvania Avenue from 14th Street to 4th Street will be closed between E Street & Constitution Avenue, NW

Motorists traveling in the area of this event may experience delays and should consider alternative routes, if possible. The Metropolitan Police Department and the District Department of Transportation would like to remind motorists to pay full attention whenever operating any motor vehicle and to be mindful of heavy pedestrian traffic that may be associated with special events.  These street closings are subject to change without notice based upon unanticipated events and prevailing conditions.
